Nowadays, vehicles are developing toward electrification, electronics, and intelligenceas the main trend whichisgiving such great opportunitiesto Taiwan’s electronics industry. Vehicle electronics and electrification will reach more than 70% of the structure sooner or later. From IC/SoC, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and embedded systems all focus on intelligent driving, passive, or active driving safety systems as well as Advanced Driver. Assistance Systems (ADAS). Among innovative and functional products such as in-vehicle infotainment systems or smart digital cockpit provide a safe and comfortable driving environment. Most carmakers in Taiwanare OEM-oriented, are limited in vehicle design capabilities and atmosphere. Whereas, the electronics industryis vigorouslyblooming anddiversified in Taiwan. Itis fullyenergetic indesign, development, validation, and manufacture from semiconductor to systems of the development of software and hardware for automotive modules in Taiwan. The automotive industry is different from the ICT industry, OEMsand or their tier suppliers have very strict requirements on ecosystem. Product tests such as AEC-Q, ISO 16750, or OEM regulations of major car manufacturers. The aspect also includes the design, development, process, and quality management systemare following automotive standardssuch as IATF 16949, ASPICE, ISO 26262, etc. In the MIH Consortium, SGS foresees a highly integrated opportunity, which is also our motivation to join MIH. Once inautomotive ecosystemstandard,OEMs and or tiers suppliers, all are necessary to meet a series of reviews, audits, assessments, and continuous improvements. There is no such “perfect” quality but always room for improvement on the OEM’s assessment checklist. This is challenging for MIH members; however, SGS will be the best mentor and a smoother for MIH Consortium to accelerate the realization of automotive ecosystem. In MIH Consortium, SGS can domeaningful things with MIH members; therefore, SGS would like tooffer two new services that SGS wants to help in the automotive industry. The primary service introducesproduct design and develop service (PDD). SGS believes that automotive product design, development, and validation are quite different from ICT products due to automotive standards.Based on the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), SGS mentors MIH members to establish an automotive quality standard and management system in product planning, product design and processdesign, development, validation, and continuous improvement. SGScanguide MIH membersto respond to the RFI/RFP/RFQ fromOEMsfor JDM/ODM with design and develop new products in automotive electric fields. SGS can assist to verify in product design, development, and the process is following OEM regulations and Customer Specification Requirement (CSR). Fromsystem boundary, functional tree, Specification of Requirement (SOR)is developed step by step. Fromthe design concept of A sample to pre-production process of D sample, and even participation design review, SGScan advise MIH members to compose the design verification plan, the preparation plan before the trial run,the production data analysis, capacity evaluation, Production Product Approval Process (PPAP) document preparation, and the Part Submission Warrant (PSW) on different process stages. For product design validation, SGS not only provides basic automotive lab testing services but also offers software and hardware in the loop (SIL/HIL) validation for embedded system compatibility and interoperability testing services that enable MIH system providers to build their systems based on the EV platform have smoothy communication among systems. The secondary service offers supplier quality management service. SGS believes that quality assurance is an essential factor to acquire reasonable profit from OEM to tiers of suppliers that must be consistent from upstream to the systems on vehicle.Based on the definition andresponsibility of the automotive supply chain and the quality requirements of OEM, SGS cancoach MIH members to establish a quality control that builds upan effectiveaudit system for automotive suppliers and audit their tiers of suppliers for supplier quality management, potentialsecond source evaluation, and qualification review, etc. an automotive electricalembedded system consists of hundreds of types and thousands of components so each component’s quality must be well controlled and effectively managed from source end ofsupplier's quality process that meets the requirements of OEM. Quality control and management are essential elements not only to reduce quality costs but alsolower risks of product recalls. By doing so, MIH memberscould get the reasonable profits they deserve when they manage quality system well. This is the original intention of the SGS Automotive ServiceCenter (ASC) to offersuch efficient and meaningful service on top of basic automotive lab testing services.SGSactively participates in operation of MIH Consortium and expects to assist all MIH members to provide total solutions in supply chain management and product test and certification who are in need. SGS follows the spirit of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) commonly used in the automotive industry to provide comprehensiveservices in all stages of quality management system, product design and development, test, validation, and certificate. In addition to providing total solutions for each stage of the product development cycle, SGS also assists MIH members to comply with the corresponding international regulations, standards, and OEM regulations. SGS is the only TIC company that can provide “comprehensive” automotive services. In the field of automotive electronic design verification and testing, SGS introduces functional safety standards: ISO 26262 training and certificate. SGS assists semiconductor and product vendors to understand the needs of OEM and tiers of suppliers, and launches customized chip, system, hardware, and software of those to meet functional safety and cybersecurity, reliability, and AI algorithms (such as SOTIF standards). On the product or function test, SGS can provide test plans and consulting services, such asautomotive reliability tests: AEC-Q: 100/101/102/103/104/200, fault tolerance testing and software Integration testing consulting of ISO 26262, andcybersecurity vulnerability analysis consulting of ISO 21434, for example, penetration testing and fuzzing testing services. Besides originaltesting capabilities of cybersecurity, SGS acquired Brightsight in 2021, a world-renowned cybersecurity laboratory, hoping to help MIH members quickly enter the market around the world through the strong connections between Brightsight and the international IoT security alliance PSA and SESIP. SGS also provides testing services for EU E/e mark. SGSissophisticated and has experiencein reliability and environmental tests and electromagnetic compatibility test including but not limited to VW, BMW, Ford, GM, Toyota, and Nissan standards. SGS wireless communication testing capability can perform various wireless technology standards and antenna related tests. Some OEMs do software upgrades or phase in new functions through OTA (Over the Air) technology. The 3D antenna testing laboratory of SGS is the first professionallaboratory accredited by the US CTIA in Taiwan. With the rising awareness of green environmental protection, automotive electrical products also need to be selected from the materials at the initial stage of design. It is necessary to strictly control the information and compliance of raw materials, harmful substances and recyclability. In response to the above situation, most of the OEM refers to the EU & China ELV environmental regulations and use the substance management system (IMDS/CAMDS) to monitor their supply chain manufacturers whether they comply not with the requirements of restricted substances in various regions and avoid excessive electronic products. Based on the above, SGS laboratory has complete solutions for various aspects such as hazardous substances, material properties, and chemical properties. Recently, SGS hascontinuously invested huge capital to expand automotive standard andprofessional laboratories, expanding automotive services to cover various automotive applications widely. SGS is more than happy toprovide professional services to MIH Consortiumas well asher remarkable members with internationalstandards tooverstride the automotive industry barrier smoothly. SGSis looking forward to collaborating with MIH Consortium as a promoter to introduce new technologies, functions, and standards for electric vehicleecosystem.SGS Automotive Service Center (ASC)https://www.sgs.com.twautomotive.tw@sgs.com
